Puddington Moor Restoration - Devon
Stage - In Restoration
Puddington Moor, one of the UK’s first habitat banks, is a 25 acre arable field which sits on the apex of the watershed for the rivers Exe and Taw. With nearly 200 years of data showing part of this area as arable, the idea is to give the beleaguered soil a break and restore the land to the native grassland, Culm and fen. In turn we hope to re-establish breeding Curlew and Lapwing to a part of their range which has been lost due to the intensification of agriculture.
Our funding mechanism is a hybrid of Biodiversity Net Gain, Carbon Offsetting & Countryside Stewardship. To find out more, give us a call on 01884 861 292 or send us a note: design@diggandco.com
In Summer 2022, we created this video with the Environment Bank. Toby and Hannah Tracey (Senior Ecologist at The Environment Bank) walk around Puddington Moor speaking of the future restoration plans.
